Worldview Guild
Testing the Spirits
Scripture Anchor
"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."
Is this Guild for me?
If you want to understand the beliefs of your neighbors, coworkers, and friends so that you can have meaningful, respectful gospel conversations, the Worldviews Guild is designed for you. Fulfilling the Great Commission requires us to build relationships with people from all walks of life, which is why this Guild is tailored to equip different believers according to their specific callings:
Worldviews
Guild
For the Layperson
If you want to engage in compassionate, intelligent conversations with people of other faiths or no faith at all, these workshops will help you understand their core assumptions without making you feel lost in complex theological debate.
For Parents
If you are preparing your children to step out into a highly secular culture, you must be ready to teach them how to identify the subtle worldview claims hidden in modern music, social media, and university classrooms.
For Church Leaders & Pastors
If you want to cultivate an outward-focused, missional culture in your local congregation, this Guild serves as an excellent resource to help your small group leaders and members engage their diverse neighborhoods with confidence.
For Missionaries
If you are preparing to minister in a different cultural setting, this Guild is a necessity, because it equips you with the regional and theological insights required to communicate the gospel clearly within a local worldview.
For the Curious Learner
If you have ever wondered how the major world religions answer life's ultimate questions of origin, meaning, morality, and destiny, you will find an encouraging, intellectually stimulating home in our workshops.
What kind of work is involved?
Because analyzing competing worldviews requires you to understand beliefs from the inside, the academic work in this Guild focuses on critical reading and comparative analysis.
Rigorous and
Compassionate Study:
You will not simply memorize a dry list of facts about other religions, because we want you to understand the underlying heart postures and cultural histories that drive these beliefs. Your reading will consist of five to ten pages of highly focused, faithful material that clearly outlines the core tenets of different global and domestic worldviews.
A Balance of
Head and Hands:
This training is highly relational, because we want you to use what you learn to build real relationships and make disciples. Your assignments are split evenly between mental study and active, everyday practice, which might include analyzing cultural media, drafting conversation plans for your next-door neighbors, or practicing Socratic dialogues with your peers so that you can learn how to ask gentle, clarifying questions.
High-Accountability
Mentorship:
Rather than listening to merely passive online lectures, you will participate in live, Socratic discussion cohorts capped at approximately twenty peers. You will be expected to come prepared to ask questions, share insights, and discuss how to apply the text to modern life under the guidance of a vetted ICA mentor who has real-world experience.
How does this Guild connect to the rest of the ICA?
The Worldviews Guild does not operate in a vacuum, because comparative worldviews must be grounded in historic Christian truth:
1. The Link to the
Bible Guild
In the Bible Guild, you learn how to interpret the Scriptures with certainty, which serves as your ultimate standard of truth when you compare biblical revelation to the competing claims of global worldviews.
2. The Link to the
Philosophy Guild
Many modern worldviews and secular ideologies are rooted in specific historical philosophies, which means the classical logic and Thomistic realism you learn in the Philosophy Guild will help you identify the logical inconsistencies in these systems.
3. The Link to the
Virtue Guild
When you engage people of different worldviews, you must be full of grace, patience, and love. The character formation taught in the Virtue Guild ensures that you do not just win debates, but that you build relational bridges that reflect the love of Christ.
Our Hubs & Curriculum Pathways
To ensure your training provides a clear pathway from basic introduction to mastery, the Worldviews Guild is organized into seven specialized Hubs. Each Hub serves as a focused center of study to help you master a specific area of global belief and cultural apologetics.
Click on any Hub below to expand the description and view our active workshops. Because our curriculum is constantly expanding to meet the needs of our student body, we regularly add new options to our live block schedules:
1. Systems Hub
Purpose: The Systems Hub exists to help you understand the big picture of how worldviews work, how they shape our daily decisions, and how they act as a filter for everything we experience in life. This integrates into the Worldviews Guild by training you to look past surface-level cultural trends and identify the core, hidden assumptions that drive modern thinking. By exploring how different belief systems compete for our attention, you will be equipped to spot cultural deceptions quickly and guide your loved ones back to the solid ground of biblical truth.
Scripture Anchor: "Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." (Proverbs 4:23)

2. Islam Hub
Purpose: The Islam Hub exists to help you understand the history, theology, and cultural dynamics of the fastest-growing religion in the world. This integrates into the Worldviews Guild by training you to move past media caricatures and engage Muslims with actual theological precision, because we want to show them how the historic biblical gospel answers the deep longings of their hearts. By studying the Quranic claims and Islamic history, you will be equipped to share the unique message of grace and the reliability of the cross with gentleness and respect.
Scripture Anchor: "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!" (Galatians 1:8)

3. Cults Hub
Purpose: The New Religious Movements Hub exists because many of the most deceptive spiritual systems use Christian language and familiar vocabulary, although they completely redefine the person and work of Jesus Christ. This integrates into our worldview training by sharpening your spiritual discernment, which helps you spot these deceptive deviations and equips you to graciously guide people out of theological captivity. By examining the history and claims of these new religious movements, you will learn how to defend the biblical deity of Christ and the sufficiency of His sacrifice.
Scripture Anchor: "And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness." (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)

4. Africa Hub
Purpose: The Africa Hub exists to equip believers to engage the unique spiritual and cultural landscapes of the African continent, where animism, syncretism, and ancestral beliefs often mix with modern thought. This integrates into the larger Guild by teaching you how the victory of Christ on the cross disarms spiritual powers, because this provides a solid biblical framework for spiritual warfare and relational discipleship in African contexts. By understanding these local belief systems, you will be prepared to share a gospel that truly sets captives free.
Scripture Anchor: "And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." (Colossians 2:15)

5. Europe Hub
Purpose: The Europe Hub exists because Western secularism, post-modernism, and intellectual pride have turned Europe into one of the most challenging mission fields of our time. This integrates into the Worldviews Guild by helping you identify the origins of modern European skepticism, which equips you to challenge the intellectual assumptions of secular humanism and show that classical Christian truth remains intellectually superior. By studying the post-Christian European mind, you will learn how to revive a robust, logical defense of the faith in a highly secularized culture.
Scripture Anchor: "Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools." (Romans 1:22)

6. Asia Hub
Purpose: The Asia Hub exists to introduce you to the ancient Eastern philosophies of pantheism, monism, and polytheism, which have increasingly migrated into Western popular culture through secular spirituality. This integrates into our curriculum by teaching you to contrast the impersonal, cyclical nature of Eastern thought with the personal, transcendent Creator of the Bible, because we want to show that God alone is the first and the last. By studying these systems, you will gain the vocabulary needed to build intellectual bridges with people influenced by Eastern mysticism.
Scripture Anchor: "This is what the Lord says... I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God." (Isaiah 44:6)

7. Latin America Hub
Purpose: The Latin America Hub exists to examine the complex theological landscape of Folk Catholicism, liberation theology, and spiritual syncretism that shapes Central and South American culture. This integrates into the Guild by helping you strip away non-biblical traditions and clearly articulate the biblical gospel, which reminds those you engage that there is only one Mediator between God and mankind. By exploring these regional dynamics, you will be equipped to bring theological clarity and relational discipleship to those caught in cultural legalism.
Scripture Anchor: "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:5)
