Virtue Guild

Transformation of the Heart

Scripture Anchor

"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness, and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control, perseverance, and to perseverance, godliness..."

(2 Peter 1:5-6)

Is this Guild for me?

If you are tired of simply acquiring intellectual information and want to experience true, lasting sanctification that translates your theology into active love, the Virtue Guild is designed for you. Fulfilling the Great Commission requires us to build relational discipleship that changes how we actually live, which is why this Guild is tailored to equip a variety of believers according to their specific callings:

Virtue
Guild

For the Layperson

If you want to move past simply knowing apologetic facts so that you can live out a vibrant, attractive Christian life in your workplace and neighborhood.

For Parents

If you want to raise children who do not just understand the truth but genuinely love it, cultivating character in the daily rhythms of your home.

For Church Leaders

If you are seeking to build a healthy congregation through a reliable pathway that helps your people practice real spiritual disciplines.

For Missionaries

If you are preparing to serve on the front lines of ministry and need protection from burnout by anchoring your service in Christ.

For the Curious Learner

If you want to explore Christian character formation and see how classical Thomistic realism clarifies the moral life with a supportive community.

What kind of work is involved?

While our workshops maintain a certified standard of academic rigor,
the workload in the Virtue Guild is heavily focused on the practical habituation of character.

#1

Intellectual Rigor
of the Soul:

You will not spend your time reading modern psychological theories because our reading assignments focus on high-quality, classic materials. These readings draw on the deep wisdom of historic Christian thinkers and classical realism, which will challenge your mind and help you understand the intellectual foundations of moral behavior.

#2

Heavy Practical
Application:

Because virtue cannot be learned through a screen alone, the assignments in this Guild lean heavily toward daily practice. Your weekly work will require you to actively engage in self-audits, structured reflection, and spiritual exercises, because the ultimate goal of these workshops is to help you move concepts from abstract ideas into automatic, daily habits.

#3

High-Trust
Socratic Dialogue:

Live Zoom meetings provide high-accountability environments limited to approximately 20 participants. Under the Socratic guidance of a vetted mentor, you will engage in honest Socratic discussions about your spiritual progress, which will allow you to learn from the experiences of others as you build deep relationships.

How does this Guild connect to the rest of the ICA?

The Virtue Guild serves as the ultimate destination of our entire curriculum, because
we believe that right thinking must always lead to right living:

The Link to the
Philosophy Guild

Our approach to character formation is rooted in classical Thomistic metaphysics, which means the logical and philosophical tools you master in the Philosophy Guild will help you understand the relationship between reason, passions, and human action.

The Link to the
Ministry Guild

Ministry failure is almost never an intellectual failure, because leaders are almost always sidelined by character issues, which is why the moral habituation taught in the Virtue Guild is essential to protect and sustain the practical work you do in the Ministry Guild.

The Link to the
Foundations Guild

Foundations introduces you to basic character development, which directly prepares you to tackle the more rigorous moral disciplines and virtue frameworks taught in this Guild.

Our Hubs & Curriculum Pathways

To ensure your training provides a clear pathway from basic introduction to practical mastery, the Virtue Guild is organized into three specialized Hubs. Each Hub serves as a focused center of study to help you understand a specific area of moral formation and develop Christ-like character in your daily life.

1. Thomistic Virtue Hub

Purpose: The Thomistic Virtue Hub exists because modern society has largely lost a coherent framework for understanding morality. This Hub integrates into the Virtue Guild by utilizing the classical framework of Thomas Aquinas, connecting natural moral virtues with the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture Anchor: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." (Galatians 5:22-23)

2. Disciplines Hub

Purpose: The Disciplines Hub focuses on the historic spiritual practices of the faith—prayer, fasting, meditation, and study—to structure daily and weekly habits around godliness.

Scripture Anchor: "Train yourself to be godly." (1 Timothy 4:7)
